Casa Alianza:  Combating the Crime of Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation in Latin America

For decades now, our Casa Alianza staff in Mexico, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Honduras have been working to protect child victims of human trafficking-to prevent traffickers from operating in the region-and to collaborate in the prosecution of traffickers. In each country they work with government ministers, police, judges, prosecutors, religious groups, the private sector and civil society in multi-pronged efforts to combat the crime of trafficking. One year after the fire, Casa Alianza Mexico continues to be a beacon of hope

On November 12, 2010 a raging fire broke out in our main Casa Alianza Mexico facility destroying most of our administrative offices and one of our residences that had the capacity to house 50 boys. Thanks to the quick response and tremendous courage of our staff, no one was injured but we also had no idea how we would be able to continue to serve the 125 kids and teen moms we were sheltering every night. Walking in Light and Hope: Casa Alianza Mexico holds annual Candlelight Vigil

Each year, Casa Alianza Mexico organizes a very special and very symbolic candlelit walk along the streets of Mexico City. It is a beautiful event in which members of Mexican society join together with the Casa Alianza community, walking in solidarity and support of the many children and teens who have suffered abuse, neglect and violence. Casa Alianza Honduras Publishes Study on Child Labor in Honduras

According to UNICEF figures, some 115 million children worldwide are victims of child labor , with many of these in extremely dangerous situations, including factory work or in mines without any of the necessary protections, or spending days and nights on the streets doing odd jobs such as shoe-shining or selling cigarettes.
