In a celebration filled with music and dance, the children and staff of
Casa Alianza Nicaragua gathered together on September 13
th, to mark our Independence Day called “Fiestas Patrias.” The celebration took place in our main residential center, the Hilton Home, and was attended by the kids from both our Homes, members of staff, parents and family members, and representatives of the local community.

For more than a decade, Casa Alianza has been tracking and reporting the murders and deaths of young people in Honduras in an effort to bring greater awareness to the violence that obstructs so many Hondurans’ path to a meaningful adulthood. Between January and August 2011 alone, there were 779 documented killings of youth under 23 years of age, of which 186 were children under 18 years of age. And today, an average of three young people a day are found dead in Honduras—victims of multiple forms of violence.
