Guatemala, December 2011
On Saturday October 1,
La Alianza Guatemala joined with the
Guatemalan Social Movement for Children in celebration of the National Children’s Day at a special event in Zone 10 of the capital city.
La Alianza was present at the event with an information stand distributing information material to children concerning human trafficking. All of the girls from our residential center participated in the event and in the various activities including shows, games, dances, circus performances and face-painting. The activities were organized by various organizations, and it was a great joy to see a girl from
La Alianza’s own residential center presiding over the event as the Master of Ceremonies.
The celebration continued in the afternoon back at our residential home with a special lunch, piñatas, cakes, a clown, and a present of a wristwatch for all of the girls, to help them learn time structure and time management.
For the girls and staff members it was a fantastic day, and by bedtime, everyone was exhausted. The huge smiles we received from each of the tired -- but very happy girls at the end of day, made it all worthwhile for everyone of us working at
La Alianza.
